The Ann Arbor Public Schools is beginning a process to update its 2007-12 Strategic Plan and is asking for community involvement in groups that will meet to update portions of the plan.
Strategic Plan Action Teams will begin meeting in January to amend action steps for three of the plan’s strategies. The teams will meet from January through March; a schedule of times and dates will be determined at the first meeting, said Director of Communications Liz Margolis.
The Action Teams will make recommendations for plan adjustments to the AAPS Strategic Planning Team in late March. If approved, they will be presented to the AAPS Board of Education for final approval in April.
Margolis said this is an opportunity for residents to help shape the future of the district and how it serves students. The AAPS Strategic Plan has eight strategies that provide the district with a framework in the areas of budget and resource allocation, curriculum decision making and accountability.
Action Teams will reconvene in January to discuss these strategies:
- Strategy No. 1– “We will create a complete educational program featuring personalized learning that realizes student aspirations and meets international standards.”
- Strategy No. 5 – “We will implement a system to ensure continuous development of staff capacity.”
- Strategy No. 6 – “We will engage and inform our constituents to engender trust and support to accomplish our mission and objectives.”
