VIDEO: Pattengill’s ‘clap-in’ ceremony on first day of school

Video by Tara Cavanaugh

To kick off the school year, Pattengill Elementary greets its third graders with a “clap in” followed by a flag raising. The 3-5 school (grades K-2 attend sister school Bryant Elementary) had a small snafu or two during its flag raising, but luckily the two fifth graders who raised the flag –– Isabella O’Neill and Aboulaye Sylla from Mrs. Kimmy’s class –– were good sports. Principal Ché Carter led the morning ceremony.
