Forsythe 6th grade KMO team takes second in state competition

The Forsythe KMO (Knowledge Master Open) Club 6th graders scored a close second, out of 22 Michigan teams, in the Thinking Cap Quiz Bowl held Wed., Jan 22, 2014.  First place went to Boulan Park Middle School in Troy, who barely nosed out the Viking Auks, 1333 to 1321.  You can view more detailed results here.

Thinking Cap is a team competition that tests teams’ ability to answer questions in all the academic areas quickly and accurately.  The Forsythe team scored 1321 out of a perfect score of 1500.  There were 100 multiple-choice questions, with five choices each.  Forsythe answered 89 correctly on the first try and ten correctly on the second try, leaving only one question incorrect.

The KMO Club is a middle school club, open to all Forsythe students, which meets from 3-4 on Tuesdays, coached by Dan Ezekiel with assistance from Mike Shaw.  Elena Weissman is the team parent, and parent Griselda Borthiry assisted with setup an snacks for the competition.  There will be another competition for 6th graders and a competition for 7th/8th graders, both in April.  Students may still join the team.
