Those interested in being considered to fill a vacancy on the Ann Arbor Board of Education have until Friday, Feb. 19, at 4 p.m. to submit an application.
Candidates will be interviewed by the school board on Monday, March 8. Candidates will make presentations at the regular board meeting and a new trustee selected on Wednesday, March 10.
The seat is open due to the resignation of Trustee Adam Hollier, who was elected to the board and sworn in last July, although he had withdrawn from the race prior to the May 2009 election. His resignation is effective Feb. 12.
The person selected will serve out Hollier’s term, which expires on Dec. 31, 2010.
Anyone wishing to serve on the board must be a U.S. citizen, at least 18 years of age, a resident of the Ann Arbor school district, and registered to vote.
Applications should contain a resume with home address, phone number and (if applicable) e-mail address; a letter of intent of up to two pages detailing the candidate’s experiences and qualifications; and two letters of recommendation.
Information should be sent by deadline to: Amy Osinski, The Ann Arbor Board of Education offices, 2555 S. State St., Ann Arbor, MI 48104; by fax at 734-994-2414; or by email to osinski@aaps.k12.mi.us.
