Community High School ACT scores third highest in Michigan

According to the ACT scores released by the Michigan Department of Education last week, Community High School has a reason to celebrate: the school’s ACT scores ranked third highest in the state.

Students take the test when they are juniors. The 115 students at Community had an average ACT composite score of 26.2. The state’s average composite score for 2012 is 19.6, which increased slightly from last year’s average of 19.4.

A composite score is the average of scores in four areas: math, science, English and reading.

The ACT also judges students on college readiness. Slightly over 63 percent of CHS students were labeled “college ready.” The state average is 17.7 percent.
