Skyline Quiz Bowl finishes strong at MSU tournament


On Saturday, Jan. 21, the Skyline Quiz Bowl Team traveled to East Lansing to compete in the annual Rube Goldberg Tournament at Michigan State University.

After eleven rounds and seven hours of rigorous matches, the team finished with an outstanding 5th place out of 48 teams, represented by 32 Michigan high schools. Team members included Noah Chen, Varun Chethan, Nishant Kheterpal, Priya Menon, Shruthi Narayanan, Conrad Stoll, and Sarah Wang.  Out of 220 competitors, Priya Menon and Sarah Wang finished in the top 15 of individual points earned.

Quiz Bowl is academic competition between two teams of four players each.  The game is played in a question and answer format covering a comprehensive list of subjects including math, science, history, the arts, sports and pop culture. The team practices every Friday after school beginning in October and concluding in March.  The team is coached by Aaron Lopez and Laurie Hochrein.
