Scarlett ESL Summer Program Highlighted on WUOM/NPR

Michigan Public Radio has produced a  story on this summer’s ESL program at Scarlett. The story is airing today, Thursday, August 28 including during the afternoon news.  The reporter, Sarah Alvarez, from the State of Opportunity initiative constructed a wonderful piece that includes quotes from several students and from UM faculty member, Debi Khasnabis.

Thanks to the University of Michigan School of Education for the ongoing support and partnership with the Ann Arbor Public Schools and the Scarlett/Mitchell communities as well as the AAPS ESL summer school teachers and interns language-page who created the kinds of meaningful relationships and thoughtful curriculum that lead to student growth! Students from Carpenter, Pittsfield, Allen, Mitchell and Scarlett participated in the program.
