Tickets go on sale Oct. 12 for five performances in November
The Pioneer Theatre Guild will present “Into the Woods” at the newly renovated Schreiber Auditorium at five performances during November.
James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim take everyone’s favorite storybook characters and bring them together for a timeless, yet relevant, modern classic. The Tony Award-winning book and score are both enchanting and touching.
The story follows a Baker and his wife, who wish to have a child; Cinderella, who wishes to attend the King’s Festival; and Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk. When the Baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a witch’s curse, the two set off on a journey to break the curse. Everyone’s wish is granted, but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them later with disastrous results.
Pioneer senior Connor Casey (Baker) said: “I’m so unbelievably excited about returning to Schreiber because I feel like Schreiber Auditorium has always been a legendary space in PTG history and I’ve never really gotten to be a part of that before this year, so I can’t wait to finally leave my mark on the new and improved space. This newly renovated auditorium is kind of kicking off a new era of PTG, which I can’t wait to see and experience!”
Lindsay Robert, also a senior and the head stage manager for “Into the Woods” added: “I have so many amazing memories inside of that theater, and getting to work in a space that I am familiar with is so exciting. I am also excited to see some of the new changes they have made. I hear that the carpet and seating all look different so I am excited to see how they look now. Getting to have my senior show performed in an auditorium I have not been in since my freshman year is incredibly surreal.”
Pioneer senior Isabeli Buendia, who plays the witch, said: “One thing that makes me very excited about PTG’s production of Into the Woods is the group of people who are involved in the production! I am so excited for this group of Seniors to finally get their time to shine and showcase how truly talented they all are! Unfortunately, the class of 2023 had their PTG experience cut short because of the pandemic.”
