Choir earns prestigious honor through a blind audition

The Pioneer High School A Cappella Choir has been named one of the Michigan School Vocal Music Association’s 2025 Outstanding Choirs through a rigorous blind audition process.
This prestigious designation—equivalent to a state championship—is awarded to only two choirs statewide, representing the highest level of recognition from MSVMA.
The talented ensemble will showcase their vocal artistry at the MSVMA All-State Festival Gala Concert Thursday, May 8, at 7 p.m. in the Fairchild Theatre at Michigan State University.
The concert is free and open to the public, with a livestream available on the MSVMA Facebook page. MSVMA Facebook page for those unable to attend in person.
This marks the sixth time the Pioneer A Cappella Choir has received this distinguished honor, adding 2025 to their impressive list of previous recognitions in 2014, 2015, 2019, 2022, and 2023.
Their consistent excellence speaks volumes about the dedication of these remarkable students, Director Steve Lorenz, and their accomplished pianist, Seohyun You.
