It was supposed to be a quick assembly about fire drill safety. But Bach’s new principal, Hyeuo Park, had a trick up his sleeve.
Principal Park and Office Max store manager Joseph Barnes surprised Bach’s three kindergarten teachers with $1,000 worth of office supplies on Oct. 1.
Office Max’s “A Day Made Better” campaign surprises teachers with office supplies based on nominations from school principals.
“Research shows that teachers spend an average of $1,000 of their own money on office supplies every year,” said Barnes. “So Office Max has decided to come directly to teachers to recognize all you do.”
The nomination is supposed to be for an individual teacher, but Principal Park chose to nominate the kindergarten teaching team: Patty Zeichman, Megan Franzen and David Borgsdorf.
“We’re asking our kindergarten teachers to have phenomenal scores and teach kids who are entering public schools for the first time to do a phenomenal job,” Park said. “I thought this nomination would help support their effort. I can’t think of a better way to thank them for working so hard.”
