New Principal of Westerman Preschool announced

Dr. Jeanice Kerr Swift, Superintendent of Schools for the Ann Arbor Public Schools, is pleased to announce the appointment of Natasha York as principal of Westerman Preschool & Family Center. 

For the previous 12 years, York has been the Thurston Elementary Principal in the Ann Arbor Public Schools, where her service was marked by excellence in establishing a warm, welcoming school community, partnering with staff and families, and providing an exceptional experience for the Thurston community. Prior to leading Thurston, York served as a classroom teacher and teacher leader in the Ann Arbor Public Schools as well as a preschool teacher in Texas. 

York completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Southern University and a preschool-4th grade teacher certification program at LeTourneau University. Additionally, she holds a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Marygrove College as well as an Educational Leadership Certification from Eastern Michigan University. 

Superintendent Swift shares: “Principal York is a proven and remarkable school leader, serving more than a decade as principal in the Thurston community, Ann Arbor Public Schools. Her proven success in school leadership, experience in early childhood education, and her commitment to serve and support all children ensure she will add significant value in serving the students, supporting our staff and families at  the beautiful Ann Arbor Westerman Preschool and Family Center.” 

York writes: “The Westerman Preschool & Family Center is at the heart of learning, and I am excited to think of the great things we will achieve together. I am humbled by the opportunity to work with the Westerman community and look forward to becoming part of the family.”
