Kiwanis Club of Ann Arbor awards 46 scholarships to graduating seniors

With graduation ceremonies just over a month away, 46 Ann Arbor Public Schools graduating seniors were honored by the Kiwanis Club of Ann Arbor, at the organization’s Scholarship Awards Program. The Kiwanis Club presented each of the students with a $1,500 scholarship to continue their educational career.

The scholarship recipients shared where they plan to attend college and their expected field of study. They also thanked the members of the Kiwanis Club, family members, and school counselors.

Superintendent Jeanice Swift also thanked the Kiwanis Club for the scholarships and the lesson they taught the graduating seniors. “We are truly grateful for your support,” Swift said. “I have no doubt that the message these young people will take from this event is the importance of community involvement, support and service. We look forward to their carrying on the tradition of giving back to their community wherever their life’s work takes them.”

The Kiwanis Club of Ann Arbor Memorial Scholarships are awarded annually to honor distinguished past members of our club. All recipients have been selected based on their character, leadership, service to the community, academic performance, and financial need. In addition to these criteria, the Carpenter recipients are being recognized for their involvement in the promotion of understanding between different racial or ethnic groups, the Dailey recipient has been an exemplary member of his school’s Kiwanis-sponsored Key Club, and the Naylor recipient has been selected based on his demonstrated proficiency in the field of automotive repair.
