Impossible plant-based burgers coming to AAPS high school cafeterias this month

Huron High School students have spoken, and thanks to their overwhelming response, Impossible burgers will be featured in AAPS high schools’ “grilled” stations starting on February 20th.

The frequency is still to be determined, but it will be featured at least once per week, says Chartwells Assistant Director Mike DeVries, noting that it will replace the current vegetarian burger offering on the high school menu.

At a Student Choice event this week at Huron High School, students were treated to free samples of plant-based burgers, and a survey showed that 93.7 percent of students liked them.

The event was a collaboration between the Huron SAV (Sustainability and Vegan) Club and Chartwells Food Service.

“It is wonderful that Chartwells has been so responsive to the needs of our students,” said SAV Club sponsor Jennifer Colby. “Mike DeVries has been very accommodating and willing to meet with our club to discuss options on a few occasions. He is a great recent addition to AAPS.
