Huron High School Principal Che´ Carter

Huron High School Principal Che´Carter has been named the 2024 recipient of the IBSOM Jean Ramseyer Award for Excellence in Approaches to Teaching and Learning. The award recognizes outstanding leadership and commitment in support of the International Baccalaureate. Recipients of this award:

● demonstrate visionary and servant leadership aligned with the philosophy of the IB;

● serve as an inspiration and role model for the learning and growth of colleagues;

expand access and opportunity for children to IB programming within the State of Michigan; and

● advance the mission of IB.

In a letter announcing the award, President of IB Schools of Michigan Jason Rubel noted that Carter embodies the traits adhered to and valued as educators within the IB.

“Additionally, we would also like to acknowledge how impressive Ann Arbor Public Schools has been in the development and growth of IB, particularly your Diploma Program and Career-Related Program offerings,” Rubel wrote. “As a leader in the state and country, Ann Arbor Public Schools and Huron High School provide impressive access to your students with approximately half of your graduating class at Huron High School taking at least one DP course. The number of students in your full DP/CP is triple that of most comprehensive high schools. Your systemic approach to teaching and learning makes a true difference in the lives of your students and families.”

The award will officially be presented at the IBSOM 2024 Fall Symposium in November.
