Good news, says Burns Park’s favorite stuffed groundhog: We’re in for an early spring!

Larry the Groundhog agrees with Punxsutawney Phil

Burns Park kindergarteners cheered this morning as Ann Arbor Mayor Christopher Taylor delivered good news at the annual Groundhog Day celebration: Larry the Groundhog did not see his shadow, so we’re in for an early spring.

Groundhog Day is a favorite holiday of kindergarten teacher Mary Roderique, who arranged the festivities. While Larry predicts an early spring, Roderique had a prediction of her own: There might be a reaction to the fact that Larry is not exactly a real groundhog.
