Earlier this school year, Comerica and the PTO Thrift Shop teamed up to donate $10,000 each toward School Messenger, a service the district uses to communicate with parents.
Comerica and the shop were honored at the Oct. 23 Board of Education meeting for their generosity.
“I’d like to personally thank these two organizations, and I’m inviting other people to look at their example,” said Board Trustee Irene Patalan.
The PTO Thrift Shop and Comerica are both strong supporters of the Ann Arbor Public Schools. The PTO Thrift Shop has been donating its profits for 20 years to the district and continues to support PTOs, enrichment activities, field trips and the AAPS Transportation Fund. Comerica sends volunteers to teach students about banking and to tutor students in math and reading. Comerica also organizes a student-run bank and teaches financial literacy at Dicken Elementary.
