Apple Crunch Day coming to every AAPS school on Thursday, Oct. 13

Every student can enjoy a free, locally grown apple

Greetings from AAPS Food Service!

It’s crunch time.

Yes, Apple Crunch Day is coming to every AAPS school on Thursday, Oct. 13.

That means every student can enjoy a free locally grown apple during lunch.

There will also be Apple Pie Smoothies for breakfast, as well as Chicken and Waffles with Apple Topping for lunch. All cafeterias will be loaded up with apples so we can all have a crunch at noon. Last year, more than 1.2 million local apples were crunched for this event. This year, we will be working with Lesser Farms and Orchard to provide thousands of apples for Crunch Day and beyond.

Dale Lesser will bring his apples to Skyline High School where he will meet with any curious students and staff.

Some highlights from our menu so far:

Stir-Fridays: Featuring different stir fry selections each week at the Create Station at secondary schools (weekly on Fridays).

Cheesesteak @ Grill Nation: Featured a Cheesesteak Sandwich to add some variety to the regular rotation for all schools with Grill station.

Burger Bar: A bigger burger with tons of toppings to choose from.
