Families across the district came together on Monday, Feb. 12 to recognize and celebrate NAAPID (National African American Parent Involvement Day).
Students, parents, teachers, and staff participated in special activities, including guest speakers, musical and dance performances, craft activities, and breakfast or lunch. Many parents also enjoyed taking a seat in their children’s classrooms and observing the lessons and activities.
The day was founded in 1995 by the late AAPS administrator Joe Dulin, founding principal of the Roberto Clemente Student Development Center, to encourage Black families to be more involved in their children’s schools. Dulin stressed the central role that engaged parents play in ensuring the success of students.
AAPS thanks all who participated and helped make this year’s NAAPID celebration impactful and meaningful.
