Ann Arbor Public Schools 2019 retirees were thanked and congratulated at a retirement celebration and dinner on Thursday, June 20th at Weber’s Inn.

This year’s 61 retirees contributed over 1,370 years of service to the Ann Arbor Public Schools. Superintendent Jeanice Swift shared collectively they got up in the morning and were ready to serve our students as the school bell rang nearly a quarter of a million times. Eleven of this year’s retirees served 30 or more years in education.

Ann Arbor Education Association President Fred Klein and Superintendent Swift presented the retirees attending the celebration with a plaque recognizing their service to AAPS and our students.

Swift says even in retirement, these educators will continue to make a difference in the lives of their former students. “We know that your positive impact will continue, your influence will extend far beyond this retirement day,” Swift said. “Because your influence, a little bit of you, continues in the lives of each and every student you have worked with in the AAPS.”
