The gymnasts train at Ann Arbor’s Gym America

Congratulations to our eight AAPS students from Ann Arbor’s Gym America who competed at the Men’s Eastern National Gymnastics Championships in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on April 24-26th!
After qualifying at the Michigan Men’s State Championships in March, they went on to compete at the Region 5 Men’s Championships in April, where they earned high scores that secured their spot at the National level. The Regional competition featured boys from seven states.
All team members brought home top placements, earning multiple medals in individual event apparatuses and the all-around competition. The six members of the Level 9 team also flipped their way to second place out of 127 teams represented.
The medalists include:
2025 Ann Arbor Gym America Level 8 Team:
- Tappan 6th Grader, Simon Avsharian
- Clague 7th Grader, Jake VanEpps
2025 Ann Arbor Gym America Level 9 Team: - Skyline sophomore, Josh VanDeRyt

Coach Kurtis Rosen said: “It’s hard to explain the years of hard work and dedication that allowed us to get to this competition. These boys overcame many challenges and obstacles before qualifying and excelling at Eastern Nationals. I was so proud to watch every one of them succeed.”
