AAPS Board of Education tours new Mitchell Elementary construction

Members of the AAPS Board of Education, the district’s leadership team and Mitchell Elementary Principal Samantha Cucu got the chance to tour the new school last week. The tour was led by the construction, design, architecture and engineering teams to highlight features of the 92,139 square foot building.

Highlights of the building tour included flexible student and classroom collaboration spaces, easy access for outdoor learning and recreation opportunities, and the use of mass timber to make the construction more environmentally friendly. 

The new Mitchell is scheduled to be ready to open to students in the fall of 2027.
