That’s the idea behind our new feature, “A minute in the room,” in which we open the classroom door just a little wider and celebrate the little things that make our schools such special places.
Step inside Quran Jackson’s 4th/5th-grade split/multi-aged classroom at Carpenter Elementary. All students are engaged, learning to be leaders and advocates for themselves and other students. While this is the first split-level class in more than a decade at Carpenter, students are showing how establishing routines, listening, and trying their best will always yield a positive IMPACT, which happens to be the school theme this year.
“Having the opportunity to teach both grade levels challenges all of the areas of my teaching and instruction,” Jackson says.
