30 seconds with: Yael Rothfeld’s music class with Thurston third graders

Video by Jo Mathis/AAPS District News Editors

Thurston third graders have had a rollicking good time learning the “Grumpy March” dance from music teacher Yael Rothfeld.

“It’s a pretty complicated dance and it is only the second time that the third graders practiced it,” Rothfeld said. “I do a lot of movement in the music room to teach concepts of rhythm, repetition, sequencing, and counting; develop coordination;  expose children to dances and cultures from around the world; and give them an outlet to get their energy out.”
