125 high school volunteers this summer helped staff 150 Rec & Ed enrichment and sports camps

Teens have been positive role models while giving back to their community

Rec & Ed’s High School Volunteer Program is an incredible opportunity for young adults to gain valuable experience while making a positive impact on the lives of children.

This summer, 125 high school volunteers in the program helped with 150 Rec & Ed enrichment and sports camps. These volunteers assist campers with various projects, help lead games and activities, and contribute to the positive and fun atmosphere of camp.

Through this program, high school students gain important skills such as leadership, communication, and problem-solving, all while having fun and making new friends of all ages.

Holly Klutz, Rec & Ed’ program manager in the Lifelong Learning Division, says the program is a win-win for everyone involved.

“It’s an excellent chance for (volunteers) to learn and grow, to be positive role models, and to give back to their community,” she says.
