Huron students earn top awards in regional science fair

Huron High School students took 62 of 89 of total awards at the annual Ann Arbor-Southeastern Michigan Science Fair at Washtenaw Community College March 13-14. The fair featured projects from Washtenaw,  Monroe, Lenawee, Hillsdale and Livingston counties.

Moving on to compete at the Michigan Science and Engineering Fair April 10 at Kettering University in Flint will be first-place winner Jeannie Daida, third-place winner Rujia Zha, fourth-place winner Omar Beleh as well as Sam Broadkey, Sierra Schatz, and Steven Toner who took honorable mentions.

Daida also will compete at the International Science and Engineering Fair in May in San Antonio, Texas.  Accompanying her will be Deniz Karabakal and Paul Rohan who won the first place Team Award.

Winning  students included: Katarina Alajbegovic, Pelham Barron, Omar Beleh, Lilia Bouzit, Sam Brodkey, Paulina Bromberg, Amy Chang, Emily Chang, Oscar Chen, Jeannie Daida, Pratik Holla, Alexandre Jolliet, Deniz Karabakal, Kate Markey, Hannah McCabe, Anshul Mehta, Ilana Miller, Natalie Nagpal, Anuraag Parchuri, Paul Rohan, Danny Rizk, Crystal Riu, Matt Sanfield, Sierra Schatz, Kunjan Singh, Grace Sun, Stephen Toner, Eugene Zen and Rujia Zha.
