
Both Skyline High and Huron High crew teams shone at national competition this past weekend in New Jersey, with multiple boats advancing to finals and earning top finishes against the nation’s best high school programs.
Skyline Crew Claims Silver and Multiple Top-10 Finishes
Skyline Crew sent one of the largest contingents in school history to Scholastic Nationals, and their preparation showed in the results. The women’s varsity quad captured silver, leading a strong showing across multiple events.
The team’s complete results included:
- Women’s Varsity Quad: 2nd place
- Women’s JV Quad: 4th place
- Men’s Freshmen Quad: 6th place
- Women’s Freshmen Quad: 7th place
- Men’s Varsity Quad: 8th place
- Men’s JV Quad: 8th place
- Women’s JV Double: 9th place
- Men’s Varsity Single: 12th place
Coach Kit Bennett noted this represented one of the largest numbers of crews Skyline has ever qualified to send to Scholastic Nationals.
Huron Women’s Junior 4 Reaches National Final
Huron High School’s women’s junior 4 boat made their mark at the championships by advancing through multiple rounds to reach the final. The team won their opening heat before placing second in their semifinal to earn a spot in the championship race.
Despite challenging course conditions, the Huron crew finished fifth in the nation in a competitive final. The boat included sophomores Clementine Keller and Mila Hedly, juniors Chelsea Barksdale and Josephine Peters, junior coxswain Mia Fletcher, and freshman alternate coxswain Sarah Zheng.
