Perseverance and Resistance: A Celebration of Us – Skyline’s Black History Month Show

Skyline’s African American Humanities Class shared their Black History Month Show with students and the community on Thursday, February 26th. As they recognized the 100th anniversary of Black History Month, the theme was Perseverance and Resistance: A Celebration of Us!

Through storytelling, performance, and thoughtful reflection, students beautifully connected the past to the present and reminded us of our shared humanity. This included dancing through the decades, an historical timeline, recognitions of African-American artists Jacob Lawrence, Florestine Perrault Collins and Gordon Parks, spoken word segments and recreations of scenes from the movies Sinners, Black Panther and Hidden Figures.
