Dicken Elementary’s winter walk is a beautiful and simple night to enjoy the combination of art and nature with family and friends, says Dicken art teacher Theresa Erickson.

Dicken’s 19th annual winter walk was held on a warmer-than-average evening Feb. 7. The first through fifth grade artists created luminaries that were placed around the school and through part of the Dicken Woods by volunteers, students, families and friends.

The hundreds of glowing lanterns changed the environment of the school grounds and the woods making the entire experience of communal work of art, Erickson noted. As an added bonus, everyone was treated to hot cocoa and treats compliments of the Dicken PTO.
