Community High Jazz ensemble performs at the John D. Dingell dinner

AAPS School Board Trustee Susan Baskett congratulations the ensemble on a job well done.

It was a big day yesterday for Community High Jazz, which was hired to perform at the Washtenaw Democratic Party’s John D. Dingell Dinner.

More than 350 guests attended, including Curtis Hertel, Michigan Democratic Party Chairman; Dr. Abdul El-Sayed, candidate for the US Senate; Barb Byrum, candidate for Secretary of State of Michigan; AAPS Board trustee Susan Baskett; Ann Arbor Mayor Christopher Taylor; and Ann Arbor Councilwoman Linh Song.

The group, directed by Jack Wagner, includes student members Sam Davidson, Miles Green, Oliver Jacobson, Liriel Lane, Will Miltzer, and Nic Villamor. WCDP Chair and emcee Theresa Reid introduced the band from the podium to much applause. Several dignitaries stopped to talk with the students and take photos.

The keynote speakers were Congressman Jamie Raskin (MD), Ranking Member of the House Committee on the Judiciary, and Congresswoman Debbie Dingell (MI).
