Members of the AAPS high school choral programs at Huron, Pioneer, and Skyline were well represented at the MSVMA All-State Festival in May.
Being selected to perform at the MSVMA All-State Festival is the highest recognition in the state of Michigan for high school musicians. This prestigious honor reflects the exceptional talent and dedication of these students, as well as the quality of instruction they receive in their respective school programs.
Pioneer High School dominated the awards with their A Cappella Choir named Outstanding Choir, Choraliers recognized as Outstanding Large Ensemble, and Chase Crownover earning Outstanding Musical Theatre Soloist, while students Liam Kaleba, Gabby Thompson, and Lily Drummond joined the All-State Honors Choir alongside conductor Dr. Marques Garrett.
The festival also featured outstanding individual achievements including Rebekka Port from Huron as Outstanding Classical Soloist, Musical Theatre Honors Ensemble members Lily Wright and Chase Crownover from Pioneer plus Will Powers from Skyline, and Skyline’s Ellie Westhoff, Leif TenBrink, and Claire Hurley in the All-State Honors Choir, with Friday, May 9 showcasing the All-State Outstanding Solo & Ensemble Recital.
