Several AAPS schools came together on March 5 for Orchestra Night at Hill Auditorium, giving student musicians the opportunity to perform in one of the community’s most iconic concert halls. The event allows students to showcase their hard work while experiencing the excitement of playing on a professional stage.
The Scarlett Middle School Orchestra performed under the direction of conductor Vera Schwankl.

For Schwankl, the moment was especially meaningful. After attending many Orchestra Nights as a student at Slauson Middle School and Pioneer High School, and later as a Huron High School parent, she was proud to conduct her first Orchestra Night as a member of the Scarlett Nation.
“Performing on the Hill Auditorium stage is truly a privilege,” Schwankl said. “This event is a wonderful celebration of musical excellence in our district, but it’s also just a tiny window into the experiences and life skills students are building every day in their ensemble classes.”
