Community High School Class of 2025 Commencement Ceremony

Community High School celebrated the 122 graduates in the Class of 2025 on Friday, May 30th at Hill Auditorium at the school’s 53rd Commencement Ceremony.

Dean Marci Tuzinsky highlighted that the Class of 2025 is the first class to spend all four years inside Community since the class of 2019. She thanked the graduates for what they gave to Community during their time at the school. “We are grateful that you have become a part of our community, and we’re ready to now share you with the rest of the world so you can go out there and make your own communities,” Tuzinsky said. “We’re glad that you’re here. We want you to take care of each other, continue to reach out, take care of each others as you make your way forward.”

The commencement ceremony included performances by the Community Jazz Ensemble and a poetry reading by Claire Lewis.

The heart of a Community graduation however remains the remarks made by each member of the Class of 2025. Graduates thanked family, friends, and Community staff, shared favorite quotes, tug-of-war highlights and several comments about the spork game.

Ari Steiner shared that he learned this year that all of the water in the Colorado River is taken out before it has a chance to reach the ocean, and he wants his classmates to take action when they find disappointing things like this. “There’s a lot of things that are wrong or bad with our society, and please feel terrible and allow yourself to feel terrible,” Steiner said. “Allow yourself to use that as motivation to learn and see new things. Please see things and be curious about them, and learn about them.”

Max Lawton thanked his family, friends and teachers for helping him get to where he is and taking his late assignments. “I remember coming to school an awkward little freshman and I’m now leaving a humble and handsome young man,” Lawton said.

Rowan O’Rourke Theeke thanked every single person at Community for genuinely making her high school experience something that she will always look back on fondly. “In a time when just about everything feels so uncertain,” she said. “There are two things I’m sure of, I will seriously miss this school and the best years of our lives are ahead of us.”
