Linda Clark, Pittsfield Elementary Teacher Assistant

Pittsfield Elementary Teacher Assistant Linda Clark grew up in Fenton, before attending the University of Arizona where she studied Animal Science/Wildlife Biology.

She spent most of her adult years in northern Michigan, residing in Boyne City and working at Boyne USA Resorts in Boyne Falls.

Clark has a son, Dylan, who lives in Arizona with his wife and two sons, ages 5 and 2. When she retires at the end of the year, she will be joining them in Arizona, enjoying the beauty of the desert and the great outdoors, and spending lots of time with her grandsons, whom she says bring much joy to her life. Clark loves most any type of outdoor activity and has a true love for nature and animals.

Principal Heather Hooppaw Miller admires Clark’s dedication to the entire school community.

“Whether it is a student, staff member or family that needs support, she is always there with a smile ready to help,” says Miller. “Linda is the definition of pure selflessness and we are so grateful to have her on our team.”

When did you start working in special education?
In 2003 my son and I moved to New Hampshire and that’s when I began working in Special Education with Autistic children. I have always had a place in my heart for children and animals and this job put me in the right place. I so enjoy seeing children learn and grow. It is definitely my passion. I began working for Ann Arbor Public Schools in 2007 and I am still hard at it and enjoying every minute of it.

What are some of the perks of your work?
I have met so many great students and their families, along with wonderful coworkers. It has been a wonderful journey for me. PIttsfield Elementary has been a great part of my life, the close knit community of staff, students and families is something that sets it apart from any place that I have ever worked. The time I have spent working for Ann Arbor Public Schools has been a true treasure for me. The laughter, the great teamwork, true friends and some tears here and there have created a time in my life that I will always cherish.

How did I come to the decision to retire at the end of this school year?
I have been thinking about retirement for a couple of years and finally I feel  that I am ready for retirement. I’m excited to travel, learn new things and spend quality time with my grandsons, my family, my friends and myself! I will be spending part of my time in Arizona and also enjoy the beautiful sights of our great state of Michigan.

What do you expect to miss when you’re retired?
I will really miss everyone at Pittsfield! I love working with children and enjoy the educational surroundings! I am heading into a new journey of celebration in my life and looking forward to every minute of it!
