VIDEO: Huron Chamber Orchestra takes master class with classical musician

Nov. 4, 2013

By Tara Cavanaugh

In the video above, Huron’s Chamber Orchestra learns about baroque musical style and history from Olivier Bault. Bault is a member of Apollo’s Fire, a world-famous music ensemble dedicated to baroque music.

The Huron Chamber Orchestra attended Apollo’s Fire’s performance on Nov. 3 at Hill Auditorium. The University Musical Society helped arrange for Bault to visit Huron on Monday for a special session with the extracurricular orchestra group.

  1. UMS was really excited to facilitate this interaction between the students and the artist! (What was particularly impressive was that the ensemble had only been together for one week…wow.) Special thanks go to their coach and orchestra director Tim Krohn, who is always a great collaborator with UMS.

  2. Thanks so much to UMS for arranging this fabulous opportunity for Huron Orchestra students to learn from a professional performer and thanks also to Tim Krohn, Huron Orchestra Director for seizing the opportunity to extend the walls of the classroom to include professionals working with students.
