The United States Navy Concert Band to perform at Pioneer High School March 17

Tickets are free, but must be reserved to guarantee a seat

The United States Navy Concert Band will perform at Pioneer High School’s Schreiber Auditorium at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 17.

Selected Pioneer High School musicians will join the Navy Band on-stage to perform John Phillip Sousa’s “Washington Post March.”

All Navy Band performances are free and open to the public. However, ticket reservations are required. Tickets are available by mailing a self-addressed, stamped envelope to Navy Band Concert
 c/o Pioneer High School, David Leach, 601 West Stadium, Ann Arbor, MI 48103.

Any unclaimed seats will be available to non-ticket holders just prior to concert time.

Ann Arbor is one of 23 cities in nine states to host a performance by the United States Navy Band during its 2017 tour.  They frequently perform at the White House and Pentagon ceremonies and tour annually throughout the country.

The Navy Concert Band, the premier wind ensemble of the U.S. Navy, presents a wide array of marches, patriotic selections, orchestral transcriptions and modern wind ensemble repertoire. As the original ensemble of the Navy Band, the Concert Band has been performing public concerts and participating in high-profile events for nearly 90 years. The concerts are family-friendly events, meant to be entertaining to veterans, families, individuals and those interested in joining the Navy.

The Navy Band has been touring the country since 1925.
 There are six performing ensembles in the Navy Band: the Concert Band, Ceremonial Band, Sea Chanters chorus, Commodores jazz ensemble, Country Current country/bluegrass ensemble, and the Cruisers popular music group
. Sailors in the Navy Band are full-time professional musicians.

Pioneer High School is a 2015 Grammy Signature School and Grammy Gold recipient. Pioneer is one of 13 schools in the U.S. to earn the national Signature award, which honors public high schools that show a high commitment to music education during the academic school year. The gold status means the Grammy Foundation has recognized Pioneer as having one of the top three music programs in the country. Pioneer High School also previously received Grammy honors in 2001, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2010.
