The Pioneer Music Department presents the 63rd annual Concerto Concert Thursday, March 14

The Pioneer Music Department will present the 63rd annual Concerto Concert at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 14 at Pioneer High School.

This year, the Slauson and Tappan orchestras will start the show to feature the talents of future Pioneers. They will be followed by the Pioneer A Cappella Choir and Pioneer Chamber Orchestra.

Jonathan Glawe leads the Pioneer Symphony Orchestra Tuesday during a rehearsal for Thursday night’s annual concerto.

The Concerto Concert featured artists are:

Mia Galbraith, Soprano
Alon Hayut, Cello
Daniel Hirshbein, Oboe
Danniell Hu, Violin
John Zijian Yang, Violin
Dabao Zhang, Alto Saxophone

Soloists include (clockwise starting upper left) : John Yang, Dabao Zhang,Mia Galbraith, Danniell Hu, Alon Hayut, and Daniel Hirshbein.

In 2004 and 2005, the department achieved GRAMMY Signature School Gold status as one of the top seven public high school music programs in the nation. In 2006 and 2011 the Pioneer Music Department was named the National GRAMMY Signature School as the number one public high school music program in the nation, making it the first program ever honored twice by the GRAMMY Foundation.
