Skyline High School to present “Romeo and Juliet” this weekend

The Skyline High School Theater will present William Shakespeare’s beloved “Romeo and Juliet”—the timeless story of young love caught between the feuding families—this weekend, October 27, 28 and 29.

Claire de Vries as Juliet

The play features Claire de Vries as Juliet; Jalen Steudle as Romeo; Savannah Cowley as Mercutio; Maggie LaReau as The Nurse; and Benjamin Nacht as Lord Capulet.

Anne-Marie Roberts direct the play.

“`Romeo and Juliet’ is one of the most beloved plays ever, because of its universal story and the absolute beauty of its language,” said Roberts.  “Our students have really challenged themselves to learn the complex verse and bring the romance, drama and action to life.”

The play is the result of hundreds of hours of work by the student cast and crew.  “Our students have worked so hard to create this play,” said Roberts. “We encourage friends, families, and neighbors will support them by coming out to see the show. Ticket sales ensure we can provide our students with great opportunities to showcase their incredible talent.”

Added Claire de Vries, who plays Juliet: “I love the timelessness of this play, which focuses on two young people in love who are torn apart by their families’ hatred of each other. I feel so honored to get to perform this classic play at a time when I am so close to Juliet’s age, and can really empathize with her emotions.”

Show times are October 27 and 28 at 7:30 pm, and October 29 at 2:30 p.m.  Ticket prices $12 for general admission; and $10 for students and AAPS staff. Tickets are available online at www.showtix4u.com and will also be available for purchase at the performances. Skyline High School is located at 2552 N Maple Road.
