Skyline Freshman wins Dexter Community Orchestra’s Youth Artist Competition

Skyline freshman Forrest Flesher, age 14, recently won the Dexter Community Orchestra’s Youth Artist Competition and will be performing as a piano soloist with the orchestra at their concert on Sunday, April 27 at 4 p.m. at Dexter High School.  He will be playing the first movement of Edvard Grieg’s Piano Concerto in A Minor.
 
The Dexter Community Orchestra is a musical group located in Dexter, Michigan.  Its music director is acclaimed cellist and conductor Anthony Elliott, Professor of Music at the University of Michigan.  The orchestra’s Youth Artist Competition, in its 9th year, is open to middle school and high school piano, band, orchestra, or vocal students who reside in 13 school districts surrounding Dexter.  Winners receive a $400 prize and the opportunity to perform a concerto movement with the orchestra.
