Picnic Pops—a tradition since 1961—is Saturday, May 21 at Pioneer High School

Picnic Pops, the annual city-wide ice cream social, will be held from 10 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. Saturday, May 21 on the lawn of Pioneer High School.  In case of rain, the action moves indoors.

The much-anticipated event—which began in 1961—features music from the bands and orchestras of Pioneer, Huron, Skyline, Slauson, Tappan, Forsythe, Scarlett and Clague. This year’s special guests will be musicians from Tuebingen, Germany.

Held under a big tent, the ensembles present a “pops” style program of popular tunes. The concert is free, and the food and games are at bargain prices.

11:45  Forsythe 8th Grade Band

12:10  Pioneer Concert Band

12:35  Skyline Concert Band

1:30  Clague 8th Grade Band

1:55  Ann Arbor Open Concert Band

2:20  Tappan 8th Grade Band

2:45  Tuebingen Germany featured guest performance!

3:15  Scarlett 8th Grade Band

3:40  Pioneer Symphony Band

4:20  Skyline Symphony Band

5:00  Huron Symphony Band
