Huron wins Class A semifinals, plays in state championship

UPDATE: Kalamazoo beat Huron in Saturday’s state basketball finals. “Kalamazoo Central was in our spot last year,” Huron head coach Waleed Samaha told the A2 Journal. “They came in, they had a great year and they got beat by a better team. And today, we were beaten by a better team.”

EAST LANSING – Huron High School’s River Rats will play in Saturday’s state MHSAA Class A boys basketball finals, after taking a 21-point lead into halftime on the way to beating Southfield High School in the Class A semi-finals at the Breslin Center. The final score was 76-64. Huron will play Kalamazoo Central in Saturday’s championship game at 4 p.m.
