Huron Symphony to perform final Concerto Concert Thursday

The Huron High School Symphony Orchestra will give its final concert of the year on Thursday evening, April 29.

This evening of music-making will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Meyers Auditorium at HHS, 2727 Fuller Road, Ann Arbor. The event is free to the public with refreshments served afterward, according to Syphony Director Chris Mark.

This is the orchestra’s annual Concerto Concert and features the following seniors: Michael Hymes (clarinet) “Introduction, Theme and Variations,” Gioachino Rossini; Cathy Vogt (French horn) “Morceau de Concert,” Camille Saint-Saens; Elspeth Hayden (flute) “Poem,” Charles T. Griffes; Callie Svann (soprano sax) “Fantasia,” Heitor Villa-Lobos; and Philipp Lee (cello) “Concerto No. 1,” Camille Saint-Saens.

Also on the program will be George Walker’s “Lyric for Strings,” and the conclusion to Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov’s symphonic suite “Scheherazade.”
