Community’s Bowen is ‘Featured Young Artist’ at guitar festival

Ann Arbor resident Max Bowen, 18, a senior at Community High School, was the “Featured Young Artist” for this year’s Western Illinois University Guitar Festival, which ran from April 9-11 during Spring Break.

Bowen was invited to be part of the festival by Matt Warnock, his teacher from Interlochen Summer Arts Academy and a music professor at WIU who will also perform.

Bowen played on stage with the Steve Miller band at the Interlochen Arts Camp last summer. He also received the Maddy Award from Interlochen this last year, the camp’s most prestigious award given to students.

He regularly performs in the Detroit and Ann Arbor areas.
