WITH VIDEO AND SLIDE SHOW: Fourth-graders at 18 Ann Arbor elementary schools find out about living with disabilities first-hand in daylong workshops each winter and spring. Parent Steve Schwartz shares his story – one that touches student hearts every year, says one parent.

WITH VIDEO: Assistant Secretary the the U.S. Dept. of Education Peter Cunningham met with teachers, government students and administrators, telling them “there’s no big, bold new agenda” in terms of dollars, but that the department is promoting teaching as a profession.

WITH VIDEO: Lakewood students researched their history and learned about life in a one-room schoolhouse, the times in the 1960s when their school first opened and they put together an all-encompassing assembly to showcase their work.

WITH SLIDE SHOW: Joan Fitzgibbon visited a variety of schools in different parts of the country as part of a cultural exchange through the Confucius Institute at Michigan State University. She hopes to be a resource as the district looks ahead to possibly expand its foreign language offerings in the future.

WITH VIDEO: Clague Middle School event involves 60 students in a multi-media production, Bryant Early Elementary School sings about peace and Dicken Elementary students learn about jazz music and history with an assembly by Vincent York & Jazzistry. Many other schools around the district host MLK Day activities.

WITH VIDEO: Logan Elementary School community came out in force with its first “Great Bedtime Story Pajama Drive,” bringing in 134 pairs of new pajamas that were each paired with a children’s book and donated to the Community Action Network.
