The Ann Arbor Public Schools PTO Council Advocacy Committee has rescheduled its meeting to Tuesday, April 20 at 10:30 a.m. at the Balas Administration building, 2555 S. State St., Ann Arbor.

The Ann Arbor Board of Education is seeking applicants to fill a board position vacated April 12 with the resignation of longtime trustee Randy Friedman. The deadline for applications is 4 p.m. Friday, April 23.

The Ann Arbor Public Schools Educational Foundation has launched a campaign to raise $1 million for public education. “There is no white knight riding in to save the Ann Arbor Public Schools. We have to do this ourselves,” said the group’s executive director.

Pioneer High School was selected it as a Grammy Signature Gold School, one of only two in the nation to receive the award this week. The school earned $5,000 for its music program.

The group announced Pioneer’s honor as part of it’s annual “Grammy Signature Schools” program. A total of 12 schools across the nation were honored through the program, with cash awards from $1,000 to $5,000 each.

Board names Stead as new trustee

Parent Christine Stead was named to the Ann Arbor Board of Education Wednesday. She was selected from a field of eight to fill a board vacancy created when Adam Hollier resigned.
