AAPS named a winner in the annual MSPRA communications contest

Ann Arbor Public Schools has been named a winner in the annual Michigan School Public Relations Association Communications Contest.

AAPS District News Editor Jo Mathis received Distinguished Achievement awards in the photography and social media categories.

MSPRA, an affiliate of the National School Public Relations Association, is committed to advancing the cause of education through responsible communications. The MSPRA contest is held to promote quality and recognize excellence in professional school communications. Entries were received from across Michigan.

Mathis has worked for AAPS since 2014. Before that, she was  a newspaper reporter and columnist, including 15 years with The Ann Arbor News.

“Working for AAPS is both a privilege and a pleasure,” said Mathis. “I enjoy managing our social media, as well as photographing students and staff in moments that illustrate our exceptional learning environment.”
