The Ann Arbor Adult Education program earned a $3,000 Incentive Award from the state Office of Adult Education. This increase to the program’s funding is being awarded based on students high post-test rates and EFL (Educational Functioning Level) gains in 2011-12. In the award notification, the Office of Adult Education expressed appreciation for the great job the Adult Ed staff are doing for adults in our community.

Adult Ed director Sharman Spieser plans to use this award to support staff through increased professional development, for new ESL and GED instructional materials, and for intensive summer instruction to help GED students prepare for the new 2014 GED test.

The Adult Ed staff whose hard work, dedication and extraordinary skills earned this award are: teachers Cindy Cairns, Beth Carlson, Ruth Crawford, Larry Fitzpatrick, Susan Guralnick, Odette Petrini and Cheryl Pieszchala, supported by Administrative Support Staff Pat Bauer and Director Sharman Spieser.
