20 Pioneer students excel on National Latin Exam

Twenty Pioneer High excelled in the recent National Latin Exam, which was administered to nearly 150,00 students.

Despite the rising cost of the exam, all Pioneer students were able to participate again this year thanks to a generous grant from the Ann Arbor Public Schools Educational Foundation (AAPSEF), which covered the cost in full with no out-of-pocket cost to any of the participants.

The honorees include:

Summa cum laude (gold medal) – Bliss Han (Latin III)

Maxima cum laude (silver medal) –Gabriela Venderrama (Latin II); Daria Chamness (Latin V/Latin Literature AP)

Magna cum laude – William Blackwell, Xalia Claunch, Carina Sanborn (Latin I); Helen Brush, Sabrina Chen, Elizabeth Kreske, Avani Shingari, Ella Zhang (Latin II); Isabella Giviyan (Latin IV); Zoe Crane (Latin V/Latin Literature AP)

Cum laude – Hannah Bondy (Latin I); Nadia Ajlouny, Ashleigh Lowe, Cristina Squatriti, Cortland Toschlog-Green (Latin II), Brain Rago (Latin III – Independent Study), Zachary Bernstein (Latin AP/Latin Literature).
